Manager – Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction Program
Location: Mareeba, Far North Queensland
Lead a $50M disaster recovery program with critical infrastructure projects.
Collaborate with QRA and stakeholders to secure funding and approvals.
$200,000–$250,000 p.a. depending on experience
Are you a proven leader in disaster recovery, ready to deliver critical outcomes for a community in need? Mareeba Shire Council is seeking an experienced professional to manage its$50 million Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction Program following Cyclone Jasper. This is a unique opportunity to drive high-impact projects that will leave a lasting legacy for the region.
As Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) program, from planning and approvals to delivery and reporting. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders such as the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA), you will lead the recovery of vital infrastructure, including water, wastewater and unsealed roads, alongside innovative betterment initiatives.
Key highlights of the role:
Deliver large-scale projects within tight timeframes, overcoming challenges posed by Far North Queensland's wet season.
Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to secure funding and approvals, ensuring community needs are met.
Lead business improvements to streamline reporting and optimise recovery outcomes.
We’re looking for an accomplished professional with:
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related field OR 15+ years in civil construction management.
Proven experience delivering DRFA programs, ideally in regional settings.
Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
