Charters Towers Regional Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Manager People, Culture and Safety to lead its HR and workforce development functions. The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this executive position offers significant autonomy and influence over HR policies, workforce planning and cultural transformation. While workplace health and safety is part of the portfolio, the primary focus of this role is strengthening HR functions to improve Council’s people strategies and employee experience.
You will lead a team of HR, payroll and WHS professionals, mentoring and developing a new and evolving workforce while driving initiatives that support organisational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Providing strategic and operational leadership in human resources, industrial relations and workforce planning
Driving cultural change to enhance employee responsibility, engagement and accountability
Leading workforce planning and development, including succession planning and capability-building initiatives
Overseeing enterprise bargaining, employee relations and compliance with employment legislation
Optimising HR technology, including TechOne, to streamline processes and improve efficiency
About You
You are a strategic and people-focused leader with experience in local or state government and a strong background in HR, industrial relations and workforce planning. You have a track record of driving organisational change, fostering positive workplace cultures and ensuring HR functions align with business objectives. An interest in maximising the potential of TechOne to enhance HR processes will be highly regarded.
