The City of Gold Coast, one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, offers an exceptional lifestyle. We are now seeking an outstanding Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) who will be responsible for driving and shaping the procurement function for the City of Gold Coast with a focus on innovation and value for money, aligning to the City’s vision and priorities.
The Role
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Business Services, the Chief Procurement Officer will lead a team of 120 staff and manage procurement portfolios encompassing infrastructure, goods and services. This role is pivotal in shaping the City’s procurement practices, balancing strategic vision with operational excellence and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
The CPO will also engage with internal and external stakeholders, including Councillors, senior executives and suppliers, to ensure the delivery of sustainable procurement outcomes that align with the City’s strategic goals.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
Extensive leadership experience in procurement and supply chain management within large, complex organisations. Public sector experience highly regarded.
Proven expertise in developing and implementing strategic procurement frameworks that align with organisational goals and deliver measurable outcomes.
Strong understanding of procurement governance, compliance and risk management frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to lead and transform multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and cultural alignment.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and present confidently in politically sensitive settings.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field. Membership with a recognised procurement body, such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, is essential.
